what to do before starting new computer?

I purchased a new computer from ZT group. AMD athalon 64 3500, asus A8N-VM mobo, 1 gb ram, dvd drive, dual layer dvd burner, 160 gb hard drive. I will be surfing the net and doing some photo and music editing. No gaming. I will be taking delivery this week. What things should I do before I before installing windows, connecting to the internet, ect., ect., ect.
This is my second computer and don't know very much, but I would like to start out right, I don't know how but I think I should make a backup CD if things get bad in the future ex. viruses.

You should make sure you have backups of all your software and downloads, of course. You should make sure you have all your antivirus software ready to install before you go online.
A prayer or two for success woudn't hurt either. Always worked for me in the past!
