so i want to spend onehundred dollars to upgrade my computer. my specs are below in my signature. maybe power supply?? solid state drive??? motherboard...(p45 probably)... what do you think?

ok thanks. ive looked through those before. i was thinking... i just ordered a 9600gt and 4gb ddr2 800, and i have 2gb ddr2 800... but my mobo has only 2 slots for ram so if i got a new mobo then i would have 6gb combined... so maybe the p45 and then maybe ill buy a cheap psu for a combined price of like 150.00$$$.

Go with the Ultra PSU, and the P45. But note that the Ultra Power supply only has 1 12v rail.

ya i wont go sli or anything. man im excited to have 6gigs of ram. dang its gonna be fast. thanks guys, welcome to comment more if needed or if there are other suggestions

You won't notice pretty much any boost in going over 4 gigabytes of RAM. I say get a good Solid State Drive over more RAM. A hard drive is a very big bottleneck in most systems.

It's also not a good idea to cheap out on a power supply. It could burn out in two years and then you would have to buy another.

The following companies make good quality power supplies:

Acbel Polytec, Akasa, Antec, Astec, Asus, Channelwell, Corsair, Delta, Enermax, Enhance, Etasis, FSP, Gigabyte, Impervio, Lite-On, Masscool, OCZ, PC Power and Cooling, Seasonic, Seventeam, Silverstone, Sparkle, Thermaltake, Toughpowers, Ultra, Wintact, Wintec, XClio, Zalman, Zippy

hardly anything will ever let you notice the difference between 2gb and 4gb. going from 4gb to 6gb is completely pointless.

i would get a better cpu or gfx card with $100,It seems a waste of money getting a new motherboard if the one you have now works perfectly fine and a real waste if that mobo you have supports Quad core cpus.

and lovely? is right, going fro 4Gb to 6Gb will not make any real difference,i went from 4gb to 5gb and didnt notice any improvement.

It will be a long while before I upgrade my memory to more than 2 gigabytes in my system. I know the increase in performance will be minimal.

While several aspects of your computer could be upgraded why not take the conservative route and save that hundred dollars and put it towards a more substantial upgrade maybe in the spring or summer? At that time I'm sure there will be more options for you to consider :D

well i just bought a 9600gt. coming in tomorrow... so actually what happened is my mom gave me 100 dollars the day after i bought it and said i was a good boy so it should go to the computer... hahaha. so i just bought a 9600gt and 4gb of ram. so... returnt he 9600gt? get 9800gtx and 700w?
