What To Do With Old Comps

What do you guys do with old computer parts/cases/components etc.
I got a few things I need to get rid of and I heard their bad for the environment.
My mom said you could recycle them but idk where/how is the best way to do this. So far all the recycle places charge like 20$

Do you guys just trash this stuff? Seems sorta wasteful...

Everything here is organic and recycled.
 
there should be a place that you can take it to and it's free, that's weird that they would charge you. maybe ask a best buy near you or something. or take it to a goodwill.
 
I tend to collect old computers myself. If I'm offered anything, I usually will take it. I find enjoyment simply tinkering with a new system :P
 
I test out my more dangerous cooling on oldies before bringing them to my good PC

you could use the Cpu for a key chain hang the mobo on your wall I think this someone else's Idea so props and quotes to whoever you are
 
Got a room and drawers full of the stuff. I got board the other day and got out a old case, Super 7 board, K6III+ 450, old AGP Riva 128 8mb video card and some sdram ram and installed 98se on it:P. Was suprised it ran better than I remembered they did.
