Hey folks,
I just could use some opinions or insight with what you guys do with your older computers.
I've reached the point in my life where i have several older computers 3 pent III actually. And they all work great and i love them to death but i just dont know what to do with them? I mean sometimes it annoys me to have these huge towers always sitting around but b/c they all work well i just cant build the guts to tear them down for parts and/or even bother trying to sell them since youd only get like $20.
So i guess what i m asking is do you guys have this issue too? Old comps that you love to much to get rid of?

take out anything useful...and then let "nature" take its course....*cough* explosions *cough cough* fire *cough*

Old crap + gasoline and/or gunpowder = Fun

*edit* after thinking about it....if you're like my grandpa, EVERYTHING is useful, and NOTHING should EVER be thrown out...just stuck in a shed forever...

Build file/print servers out of them

Build lego computers out of them

you can always find something to do with them.

i give them away to people without computers. mainly priority to relatives then whoever i know that don't have one.

Just throw up an add on craigslist for $35 internet and word processing ready computers. Not a whole lot of money, but it'll get rid of them.

I just feel like there worth so much more then that but i hear ya, thanks for your opinoins etc.

and on a side note the Intel Celeron D is a great processor for its price.

That's debatable... sure Celerons are cheap, but one could argue that with a Pentium or Core/Core 2 you are getting much more performance for not that much more, and is therefore the better deal.

Heres what to do... open up the pc with the celeron in it. Open up the pentium 3 pc. Then Take the pentium 3 out. and put the pentium 3 in to the celeron slot then put the celeron it to the pentium 3 slot.

So then:

Your faster pc.

PEntium 3 ETC

I'd say either a) sell them cheap locally in the newspaper etc. or if money is not an issue, b) donate them to somewhere, a daycare center, a kids center, a school.

I am a big fan of donating hardware to the needy folks when I can afford to. To date I given away about 30 complete computers to daycares and schools. Besides being a generous thing to do, it's really good for the kids.

Just an idea
