What to do?

Okey, so just sat down today to assemble my first build.
Every thing was going good, until.... i discovered i had ordered a intel core i7 3770k, which is not compatible with my motherboard(asus sabertooth x79).

So, i've now got two options, new motherboard or a new CPU? what to do?

other components:
Case: CM Storm Scout Black
Power supply: Corsair Gaming Series GS800
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LP 16 GB DDR3 1600MHz
GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 680 2GB PhysX
CPU-cooler: Noctua NH-D14 CPU
Memory: Seagate 1 TB S-ATA III 7200RPM
SSD: Samsung SSD 830 Series 128GB 2,5"

(my english is ok, not the best, lol)

I would certainly go for the new motherboard, the 2011 socket is almost unheard of and largely irrelevant.

It would make the system much harder to sell once you are done with it.

All mobo's with chipset z77 from decent brands like asus and gigabyte will do good. But if you want to oc (high) or/and need much connectors , then you can better go with a more expensive one. What's your budget?
 
I will agree with gigabyte boards. I use the Z77X-UD5H. There are a number of us here that have it as well. Good board for not a huge pile of cash. What features are you looking for in a board?
 
Hmm... What im i looking for? :P To be honest, im not really sure, i went for the sabertooth because, it had "everything" and a bit more, it had gotten good reviews, and, it looked freaking awsome :P
But now that i have to change it, i just want the best possible board i can get for the money i get back from the sabertooth. :)
 
I tink the sabertooth x79 looked quite cool, but the Z77 weren't particularly good looking :P
But hmm... and i thought i was done researching products.... :P
 
Haha, was just looking at the ud5h before i saw your post. But i can't seem to find the ud7h? but yeah, the ud5h looks good, i might go for it. but what is the difference between the ud5h and the ud5h-wb?
 
Liked the asus better than the gigabyte one, dunno why tho :P
But any thoughts on the Asus P8Z77-V PRO, Asus P8Z77-V PRO/THUNDERBOLT compared to the regular Asus P8Z77-V?

If you were going to get an upgrade over the p8z77 -v go for the pro version. Not thunderbolt. From what I read the pro version will be a bit better for overclocking due to 16 phase power design on the pro vs 12 on the standard. I am not too sure what that will translate to as far as real performance gains.

It looks like the thunderbolt version is 12 phase design. Not too sure if I can trust the forums but that is what I was reading.

I would say P8Z77 -V if you want a mild OC (4.5ish maybe higher) or go for the pro version if you want to take the CPU to the max OC for the processor.

If you want thunderbolt onboard, look into the power phase design. if it is 16 it will OC more like the pro. If it is 12 it will be more like the standard version. I would probably get one of the other two and get an add on thunderbolt card later if it becomes more popular. That way you can get the newest hardware revision of thunderbolt (if there is one) and more ports with an expansion card.
 
As far as I can tell it will be just a bit better for OCing over the PRO. The biggest changes that I like are the Dual LAN ports and the BIOS POST LEDs. I think the benefits are not worth the price. Especially since there seems to be a lot more hardware error reviews on newegg.
