what to expect from this cpu

hello. i came across a core 2 duo e7200. its 45nm, stock speed 2.53 with 3mb l2 cache. im currently using a q6600 overclocked to 3.2Ghz, which is 65nm, and cant get it beyond 3.5Ghz. im wanting to know if you guys think that i would be able to get the e7200 beyond my q6600 with the same setup in my sig, minus the q6600. and will it be a little better in games or in anything for that matter over the q6600.
 
You want to go from a quad core to a dual core? That doesn't make sense. Keep what you have.
 
Yah, it would overclock better, you could get 4ghz out of that cpu, but i would not go for a dualie when you already have a quad.

In games, i would still perfer to have a quad.
 
Trust me you wont want to go to a E7200 from a Q6600.

The Quad has 4 cores as you know...8mb of cache,where as the E7200 only has 2 cores and 3mb cache.....even if that E7200 could OC to 4Ghz i still wouldnt swap it for my Quad.

Whats your current voltage settings?

Dont assume just that because some Q6600s on the net get to 4ghz or so that yours will,theyre all diffrent and some clock higher than others.

when i had my old mobo i could only get my Q6600 to 3.2ghz no matter what i did,so i swapped out the mobo for another and got it to 3.5 hastle free.
 
yeah i figured that what i have is better. its not like i need to get rid of anything, as i have both cpus, but ill stick with the q6600. i just wanted to know if the e7200 was a better overclocker. right now my current voltage on the q6600 is 1.296, running at 3.2Ghz. in order to get it to 3.5, it needs to be at 1.496, and that creates more heat and im not cool with heat. max load i dont go over 50c, as to when the v core is up to 1.496, it gots up to 65c, and when the summer gets real hot, its going to be to much for my liking. anyways thanks, i guess ill put the e7200 on a board and sell a computer for $100-$150, depending on how much ram and hard drive i use.
