What to Expect

I plan to add 1gb of memory to my 3bg HP Pavilion. I also plan to upgrade my 160gb 5400rpm disk drive with a 200gb 7200rpm disk drive. What performance should I expect? Example booting the PC and get online with Firefox.

What about heat and power requirements. Will the new drive create too much heat? Thank you

Should notice some speed increase, loading games, running multiple programs, etc. nothing too major though. You should be fine with heat and power, how big is the PSU?

going from 3 to 4gb on a 32 bit OS will yield virtually no improvement whatsoever

the drive will make a small improvement, but not much, as there wont be much paging anyway, due to the fact you ahven lots of ram

Good point, are you running on a 32 bit or 64 bit OS?

Adding RAM will certainly make a difference.
But you need to check your Mobo how much RAM will it accept.

However, I doubt if changing the HDD will have noticeable difference
