What to look for in motherboard...

Within the year I want to build a new pc (as I've stated in other threads mainly for Doom 4/Rage 2 as thats it for gaming for me). I feel pretty knowledgeable about what to look for in ram, cpu, gpu...but what differentiates a $50 board and a $300 board. I'd want to keep it around $100.

Also...

ATX
AM3+
I won't use more than 8gb at first (16 max)
Not sure what CPU I'll use yet besides AM3+

Right now I really just need to know what to look for in a good board.

Here is one I like so far...

Thanks!

The power phase for the CPU and memory controller. The more phases the cooler the chokes stay. The MSI has older mosfets, the Gigabyte has newer Low RDS(on) mosfets. They run cooler and it has a cooler on them too. Plus the gigabyte has a 2oz. copper PCB.

I would not look at motherboards without the below features.

usb 3.0

sata III (6gbps)

pci-e gen 3.0

4 ddr3 ram slots

uefi bios

If its from my side I think it would be reasonable considering if its generally multi-tasking, fast and not hanging depending on the processor, if its power saving if you usually use PC for long hours or a day =P USB 8 x 3 .0 and provides good graphics and high end sound system..

<Biostar> a friend said this is quite well known for its standards.

others are also good depending your majority purpose and budget too! =)

And besides, the board you have picked out would not support "FX" cpu. Like the 4, 6 and 8 cores.
