What to upgrade?

idk much bout cpu's, and for my birthday newegg has the worst shellshockers i've seen since i joined, ya know, teir daily deals stuff.

oops, though you meant like newegg which considering they don't have an auzzie branch i should've noticed, but too late now, and why is that guy trying to recommenda gt540m, at least i know more than that, and by cpu's in my other post i meant gpu's

its spam. easily detected by lack of posts and looking at other posts. reported, in future however don't comment on it.

i had to just touch the voltage a little, because i'm still trying to work out what's giving me BSOD's. It really makes a difference though, soooo glad I got the card.

if you already have a PSU capable of handling it, then yes. if you don't have enough watts to run it, then you're probably better off getting a new single card and just running that.

750 watt is plenty, but what is the brand is the real questiong, a cheap psu will kill a system, but otherwise it should work, i think the minimum recomended is closer to 700, and most people say to get 750 for sli or Xfire, so as long as it's a quality psu you'll be fine.

there are little power testers that sit in between the wall power point and the computer. Alternatively, you could use a power supply calculator and go on the theoretical amount used. I believe that there are also applications that will show how much power you are using on the computer screen.

idk y, but last night when i was going to sleep, this popped into my head, they should make something that would take like 2 expansion slots or something, but it would basically be a 2-300 watt psu for the gpu alone, for closer to 30, so all the people on oem's and such can save another 30 for a full psu, and not have to rewire the entire thing too.

are you talking about the op's video card, as in his hd 5770, which is a 120 buck card now, and can overclock like hell, i don't think that is the problem.

If you have the money, I would suggest that you drastically upgrade your RAM, maybe putting as much as 2x8gb in if you want to but 2x4gb would be enough really, doubling your available memory!

Also you should if you can try and put in 2 high end graphics cards for battlefield 3, as this will mean that you can run the high quality graphics seemlessly without much lag. Upgrading to the i7 won't hurt either to be honest.

i7 is pointless in gaming, i5 is more than powerful enough, and i don't thing any games are threaded for 8 cores so it will recieve no benefit other then a lightened wallet, and 2 5770's would be more than enough for any game for a little while if overclocked, and 4gb's of ram is more than enough for almost anyone, only people running multiple windows of very heave programs need 8gb's of ram truly, it is good to have but unnecessary, and i don't think it's easy to get 8gb sticks, or if they even have them for desktops.

step 1: video card + PSU. see how that goes.
if there is still a problem:
step 2: processor.
pretty expensive, but 99% guaranteed to fix all problems.
also, 4 gigs of RAM is enough.

My PSU is a ANTEC|EA750 750W so will that be enough for a 2nd card? I also run a few windows cause i have dual screens so would more ram help? Moneys not really an issue as ill be upgrading over a month or 2.

well there'll be new deals and new products and stuff in a month or 2, by the end of september there'll be a new amd cpu (technically 4 if you count all the versions of the 1).
