ive noticed my friends computer runs much faster and smoother in online-games, and i noticed ram must be the case since my internet is quite decent and my graphics card is the same as his.
i have a
Intel (R)
Celeron (R) CPU 2.93 GHz
2.93 GHz, 448 MB of Ram

I was wondering what type of ram do i need to purchase?
also, is this something fairly easy to install? i have installed my own graphics card before, that was pretty easy, but never installed anything else.

if you need any more information please ask.

yea ram is based on your mobo and what type it accepts... its even easier to install than your video card I'm sure... you just push it down into the slots. If you get the model number off your motherboard it will be really easy to tell you what type of ram you need

i understand i can use pc-2700/pc-3200, so will this work?

or is there something youd recommend?

alright thanks for the website, they have cheaper stuff.
right now i have 512 ram, will another 512 make a difference? i dont play high-end games like World of Warcraft, i just play Java-based games and counter strike.
the reason i ask is i dont have much money.

thanks but until 2weeks-a month i wont be able to afford one, im only 15, no job, i got around 35$ saved up for allowence.

do you think that from 512-1024 ram will make a noticible change?

I would try using Computer ram. If that dosnt work, you have a mac or laptop, you will have to cut the ram in half to fit it in right. Try that :D:D:D

LOL

You need to make sure that you use two of the exact same memory modules to ensure stability and performance. Different brands of the same memory type doesn't mean they're compatible with each other. Different chips, timings, voltage ranges can all affect compatibility.

You either take out your other RAM, note its specs and go out to get the exact same one; or borrow $20 from yo buddy to get an ok 1GB stick and get rid of the old 512MB.

Come on now, that's not helping. Jokes are all well and good but don't tell someone who doesn't know exactly what they are doing to do stuff like that.

Getting another 512MB should make a noticalbe difference but your CPU is a Celeron so that's probably the reason your friends computer seems faster. Do you know what CPU your friend has?

my friend has a dell...lol...but he got a good one with 1gb ram, and 160gb harddrive. i have a better gfx card then him though.

this is all the info i got off of my existing ram chip.

It says this on every single little black thing on it:
ELPIDA DD250BARTA
TAIWAN 0544ALA11-5b

and on the front on a sticker it says:

ULT3025
512 MB 400MHz DDR DIMM

can anyone recommend a ram chip thats 50$ or less that would be the best to use with my existing one?

i have 2 slots, 1 is already taken by my 512.
but can you tell me anything that will work with my posted spec's for my old ram, i couldnt find anything on google about it maybe its just old.

when i go to buy ram, could i show them my old one and they will tell me what will work?

i need either: a 1gb stick that is 50$ or less or a 512 thats around 30-40 dollars

and i really need urgent help, my mom can only take me today, i cant drive yet. so if anyone helps me figure out what 512 or 1g stick will work for my mobo and existing ram, id be greatful
