hi,i'm new here and i was wondering something,
can any of you tell me how i can find out what exactly my grafics card is?
before i forget i'm running a windows XP prof edition

The device manager tells you minimal info in readable way. Can you tell me what hardware is this one:
PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4966&SUBSYS_4F721002&REV_01\4&1FEB96E4&0&0008 ?
 
LOL.. I've never had any trouble reading the video device in device manager.

I havent a clue as to where you went to find that crap but device manager usualy tells you the name of the video card.. I've always checked this way sooooooooo try again...
 
That's true, but if you want more info (such as what AGP standards are supported by the card and what's the current setting), you can't read it from the device manager.

That crap appears at the adapter's properties under details tab.
 
www.cpuid.com will tell you mobo, processor, memory information as well.

same on mine, bunch of stuff. i keep the box and manual though, so no worries lol.

Alright then so this rant is over thanks for your answer ;-)..

Now he asked about what kind of graphics card he has and the way I mentioned will give him the name which is either

A. what he's looking for.
b. give him a name so he can then search for it on the internet.

Anyway I thought I was being helpfull and still think so and I felt as though they way you worded your repsonse to me was some what an attack.

Basicly we are both right ;-).. so no need to get worked up here.

And it's because I gave some good helpfull advice and then someone came along and basicly said I was wrong and then asked me to identify a device in order to prove it and that was just rude so I got pissed your right.

Done now I think.

K man lets just forget this whole thing.. It's just that your message was to clearly get acrossed that my advice was poorly given and then I was asked to identify some device for what ever reason.

when you can clearly see you can find the name and such of your video card in the device manager as I suggested which I think was fairly good advice.

Man your just not seeing how this is of no help to the situation do you? The way I said gives you very minimal detail yes but basicly answered the guys question as to how to find out what type of video card he has.. perhaps it wont tell em speeds or slot type or whatever but it gives him enough to go on to google search to find the info whithout having to download software which is Just fine too.

Listen if you read Lorands post it seemed more like he was saying my advice was bad and not

Lorand was helping the guy out, his advice was more detailed and it would not require him to go online and google until he found what might be his card. your advice requires online searching and possibly no help (if he can't find his specific card online). seriously...there was nothing more than "hey, i think my advice will help the guy out more. if you look here at your advice it clearly could confuse him."post random text stuff: this ill be easier for him :link:" then you took it personally.

Fine it's forgotten as a matter of fact I would have stopped sooner but there's someone else adding fuel to this fire.

P.S if you had of worded it that way the first time then all this could have been avoided.
 
lol, oh yes. blame it on me for agreeing with someone elses advice besides yours. forgotten though, personally i think they were both good ideas, just one was more effective than the other and possibly more convenient.
