What Video Card for this MB?

Your mobo would fit any PCI-Express VGA cards. For about $100 AU, a 8500 GT would be my choice.


If you choose to run more than 1 VGA, your mobo supports SLI (not crossfire). So Nvidia VGA's are your best bet for your future purchases.
 
8600GT's are not very good, they will play most games but im selling my two after about 3 months of use.
 
@Smerk...Depending on what games you play the 8600 GT is pretty neat. Since in your sig, you're running duals... that maybe the problem. From what I've seen/heard, SLI isn't always better. For example, in the game GTR2, the game runs alot faster in a single VGA setup than the 2 way SLI mode.
 
We are not particularly worried about it's gaming capabilities it's more a general use pc but we will probably be blown away by this even as the computer we have had has been absolutly pre historic.
 
We put the Galaxy 8500GT in the mother board and then turned the pc on and it flashed briefly only for a split second enough to see one of the small 90mm fans do a little spin then it does not boot, it stops more or less instantly. This can be repeated and the same flash on/off result! Blue lights light up in the front fan controler interface so it gets power then does not go all the way to boot the rest the way up.

This is a brand new build though we didnt build it. It was built up till a stage when it needed a card we got it to finish it off!

Any ideas or what can we do to trouble shoot it?

Our friend had trouble while building this pc and did not have enough money to finish it off with a video card. He had installed an old 7300GT card he had lying around then discovered it was not working, so took it to a pc repair shop to check it out.

He informed that the video card was 'had it' but while in the shop used one of there cards to install XP Home and set everything up then put the old card in and sent it to us so that we could finish it when we could afford a Video Card (fee was $270).

The PC was then posted to us from top of Queenland to South Australia about 2000k. So we bought and installed the new 8500GT Video Card and tried it for the first time but the PC will not boot.

What would you suggest went wrong or to try?

We called a local repair shop! They explained to take the CPU out and put it back in and take RAM out and back in. Guess what the CPU was stuck to the heat sink and came straight up with it, it was not even clamped into its slot, was just dropped in the whole. What kind of a dumb ares **** tech would have done that we gave him $270. Anyway screw him we are trying to work through it now.

OK - so update;
It booted 'hooray' (after two days) but only goes to the mother board selction screen, we have pressed 'DEL' and it goes into a blue CMOS Setup Utility. if we boot it and dont press the 'DEL' key it just goes to a black screen with a little underslash at the top left of screen.

We assume at this point our dodgy techy have not installed windows or anything but we could be wrong can anyone suggest what way to go next. Or any links to read up on?

CDROM will not open is this a normal procedure?

We sorted this - CDROM was plugged into a CP_FAN connector in the MB. Like most things in life you want anything done you have to do it YOURSELF!
