ive had a trojan that never really did anything because we were on dialup so we were never connected :D but, my aunt got an auto-dialer that racked up over 100 dollars in phone calls over the month :S

Not really a virus but I managed to create a script which would not only delete the Linux kernel (thankfully only for that one version) it also erased GRUB's config file. Obviously I kinda lost the script because it was a test machine so I just re-installed the OS :( Not really a virus because you needed to run it as root in the first place, plus it just sat there, it never moved or anything.

The worst actual virus was on a spare eMachine that I was taking to bits so I first re-installed Windows XP SP1 (no AV or firewall!) and within 2 minutes of getting online the machine had got a virus causing a shutdown before not letting me boot it again. Plus about 10 adwares in that short space of time!

Win!

Okay. The worst virus I must've had was... Where my Toshiba Laptop, well each time I would start it, it would give me a message about some unmountable thing I had no idea what it was but I had to reformat my whole windows.. but yeah it was a big blue screen with an error message. Another one was with my desktop.. where I got a bad virus not sure what it was but it deleted all my Java files lol. There was another one I had a keylogger it got a hold of every credit card number my mom had posted on the net ( she buys alot of crap online) nothing bad happended but we had to get new credit cards social security card number ect ect.. I told my mom never to put that sort of personal information the CPU and I was right.. anyway keep up the good posts.

I had one that placed icons all over my desktop, program files folder, and start menu... didn't take long and I just reinstalled Windows. That was on Windows 2000 so.... :p

There was one file that I had several years back that kept getting larger and larger until it took up all the free space on the hard drive, I never let it get to that point so I shut the computer down but I believe it would have either crashed the computer, or made it virtually unusable because it would take up all of the VM.

Heh I learned my lesson from watching you-know-what. I got a Virus on my computer called the "Unknown Virus". It would not let me access any type of videos (yes including porn), and deleted all my pictures!

So know everytime I find a you-know-what sight I want to go to, I check it with Norton first :D

But hey, we all get bored at college sometimes, well the people that go to college.

Mine was where if you clicked on any programme it duplicated it like 100 times, so if i clicked on IE once, it opened it like 100 times, did that with everything.
Had to reformat in the end.

my cousin actually sent me a .txt file and asked me to save it as .url. i was a n00b then so i didnt suspect anything. i did what he told me and after that i had to reformat because the .url file actually made explorer.exe restarts itself indefinitely. later on, i found out that the name of that thing. it was called windows format overflow.
