One day using my old DEC Pentium 133 system, I saw the mouse drivers were generic rather than the ones supposedly for my MS mouse. Not leaving well enough alone, I changed them. When I rebooted, I got a black screen. Trying safe mode, I couldn't get the original drivers from the Win95 CD, because I couldn't access the optical drives in safe mode! I lost all my data and applications in the now-mandatory reformat and reinstall from scratch. That day taught me to put accessible drivers on the hard drive.

so my friend and I get together at my house to find out what is wrong with his computer. We both have a farirly good amount of knowledge and know how to put a computer together. Since his comp wasn't booting ,we completley take the thing apart and put it back together. Still doesnt boot....

Us being kids, just blew him off and didnt beleive him. 5 hours and 3 bottles of S. pellegrino later, we found out that the BIOS chip was indeed broken. My friend ended up buying a new mobo
