just posting out of curiosity, boredum, and in the hopes of getting some good stories to read about.
despite all we do to protect our computers, mistakes still occasionally happen and you end up with a virus.
so, what was everyones worst virus?
mine was several years ago. threw accidental careless downloading from kazaa, i had gotten the Nimda worm, i didn't notice it until Internet Explorer stopped working, i then found i had lost 9gb of hard drive space. i tried to go into control panel to look at the internet settings and couldn't get into there. tried to run antivirus, but the was corrupted and wouldn't run at all, nor could i reinstall it from the cd because windows installer got corrupted. i tried to go online with my game server pc to download a new copy of McAfee, but found internet explorer was busted on that pc also. luckily, McAfee still worked on that one so i was able to clean the pc. i then removed the hard drive from my gaming pc and put it in the server pc to clean it. after the gaming pc and the server pc were cleaned (or so i thought), i checked our 3rd pc. i found the virus there aswell, but it had done no damage yet. i put the hard drive back into the gaming pc and booted it up. i then got a virus alert popup on the server pc again. after cleaning it, again, i found it on the 3rd pc again. the damn virus was spreading between the computers over the network as i cleaned each one. i ended up unplugging each pc from the router, rescanning each one, and having to do a full reformat of my gaming pc hard drive, loosing whatever was on it.
