What way to go for home network??

I recently built a computer (help from you guys) and have kept my old one running for my wife.

All she does on it is surf the net and play on the HDD with digital pics.
I play EverQuest 2.

I currently just set something up by guessing my way through a wizard using my old router. The way it is both computers can use the printer and only access the other puter thru a shared folder, which is fine.

My problem is that when we are both using the internet (surfing/gaming) there is often terrible lag.

Is this a problem with the windows network wizard?
Is my router to slow? (will have to find specs for you)

Should I get a new router? If so go wireless or stick with the wired way?
Also as a side note in a few months I will be hooking my PS3 (basement) up to the internet as well (would wireless be best then? Or not go thru floor and insulation(insulated theater room)).

Thanks in advance

Well at times it screws up whatever I am doing in the game. Push a button and it doesnt register the click for a sec or two instead of instant. Which can cause major issues in the game.

What is an IP conflict?

I forgot to check on the specs of the router last night. will try tonight.

Another question: If I get a wireless router do I have to buy additional parts to install into computer for it to accept wireless internet? Or when you buy a wireless router it comes with said part?

I am definatly leaning towards getting a wireless setup as my PSP, and PS3 are wifi ready. Plus I dont want to drill another hole in my floor to run a network cable to the PS3. Any help in this area you guys know about I can read?

No the wireless router is not going to come with the part to run the desktop, it will have to be purchased extra. You can by a PCI version or USB version to accept the wireless signal. Although i dont know anything about your MB. Some MB now come with it built in, so mabe some one else can hlep you with that.

1.5MBPs is a fine speed. No, you don't need anything else to run a wireless router if you're running a wired connection. However, take in mind that some people with wireless can "hijack" your internet that way.
