Good Day,

Now I been studying on computers for awhile now, I know about RAM, Hard Drive, Video Cards, Etc Etc...

But now it comes down to Motherboards, I dont know whats a good motherboard when I see one. I have alot of studying to do but I need help now. I am doing a build at the moment (If you guys seen my previous posts) and im on a budget.

Right now I have on my cartd a NVIDIA 8800 GT Graphics card and a AMD +5000 Processor. I dont overclock to that note aside, I need help on choosing a motherboard.

My budget is $500 with Shipping and Handleing. Can any of you suggest a motherboard that would run these parts well? I am never too sure, I have this Motherboard in this cart http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813135074 But is this good enough? Thanks again all!

DDR2-800 will run just fine. Thats the most the memory controller on the X2 5000 will run anyway. The board just supports up to DDR2 1066 for the Phenom.

Ohhh, so it doesnt matter what RAM i choose as long as the motherboard can support it? Ex: Motherboard is DDR2 1000 butAll I have is DDR2 800 RAM the Motherboard can support it?

On a AMD the Memory controller is on the processor. AMD AM2 processors only supported up to DDR2 800. The Phenom memory controller supports up to DDR2 1066. So if you run a AM2 X2 5000 the option of DDR2 1066 doesnt even show up in the bios. It supports DDR2 677/800 and 1066. But 1066 only if your running a Phenom. Plus its PCIe 2.0 and has a higher HT link speed capability 2600/5200 if you upgrade to a Phenom later. The other board is limited to 1000/2000HT and only has PCIe 1.1, and is really just a AM2 board with a bios update for the Phenom.

The only true AM2+ boards are the AMD 700 series chipsets and Nvidia 700/8000 series chipsets.
