what would be a good videocard for me

i have a dell 4700 and the videocard is an X300 might be SE dont know and a 305 watt powersupply what would be the best videocard i could go up to with that powersupply and if that one isnt good enough where can i get a better powersupply for my dell and i heard dells use specail powersupplys is that true
 
is the psu 305W or 350W?

if you dont have many pci components, than you don't have to upgrade your psu.

bout the videocard, what's the budget?

and yes dell has their "special" power supplies which sucks

the powersupply is 305 watts and i have a pci soundcard in there right now and another card i think it is used to hook up the modem which i dont use and the budget is $300-350 on the videocard
 
well... for 300 euries you can get a hell of a grafics card. however,.. you would need a new PSU to.
but with the current PSU, id say get something like a x700. i thought that should run on a 300w PSU :)
 
i have a dell 4700 2 and i had no problems upgrading my psu. just make sure that it has a 24-pin connector. and if it is pci-e i dont remember if u said so u need to plug in a 4-pin connector to ur mobo to power ur pci-e

can you give me the link to where you found that powersupply

or can i get a videocard that is better than my x300 and still work with my 305 watt powersupply

the x300 is PCI-E right? if it is, it will be pretty hard to find a nice video card without needing to upgrade your psu.

yes the x300 is pci e and where can i find a powersupply unit for my dell
