What would you do?

I don't know if this fits in the right category, but I just bought a used blackberry 7100. The seller said the item had minor scratches on the case and screen. But, the screen is filled with scratches. Also, the END key is starting to fall out. Would you bring it back?

depending on how bad it is and what you paid for it.

if you got it realy realy cheap then try getting a replacement screen if thats possible?

and a new END key :D

if you paid more than half of what theyre worth brand new then tell him/her you want a refund.

I got it for $53. I am going to send it back and buy one that is in better condition for just a few dollars more. Should have done that from the beginning.

Hmm, Nevakonaza in a way that is not a bad idea to replace the keypad and screen. I don't even need to replace the screen, I can just buy a new lens. I was checking out ebay and you can by both a new keypad and screen for like $18 with shipping. Sadly, I would have to take apart the whole phone. But, I found a youtube video for that. I would try and at least get a partial refund from my seller.

maybe try contacting the seller who you purchased it off and tell him you feel that he charged a bit too much and tell hi you dont want a full refund but maybe something back just to cover the price of those repairs,i mean if he gave a false discription of what state the goods were in then he should.

probably wont work but theres no harm in asking,if you purchased it of Ebay the decrease his reputation and put on a complaint about him.

that might get him thinking lol

Yeah, all I want back is like $10-$15. Here is a link to the youtube video. Tell me if I am crazy to even think about this. But, you don't have to watch the last part because that shows you how to replace the whole screen and I am just replacing the keypad and screen lens. I could probably live with the keypad, but while I am inside it I might as well do it at the same time. Plus the seller has been a member since 1998 and has 100% rating. Another thing is that I would have to buy a case opener and I am only finding those online. I have to find a substitute for that. And another this is if I do something wrong in the repair, I am screwed.

I just e-mailed the seller and asked about a partial refund. Actually, this is a piece of cake to what people have to repair. I found a website that if your whole USB port dies they show you how to re solder it and this is nothing as bad as what I need to do. Wish me Luck!

yeah from that clip it looks very straight forward and easy to do.

good luck anyway;) let me know how it goes.

Yes! He agreed to refund me $18! It is going to take a little over a week for me to get the parts because they are coming from Hong Kong. Even the seller admitted it does not look hard to install.

I got the parts ahead of schedule! I thought I was going to get it next week. But, I was shocked when it showed up at my doorstep today. I am going to install the parts sometime this weekend. I need to find an alternative for a case opener tool. But, hopefully that won't be a big deal. Wish me Luck!, I am going to need it.

I installed it and it works still! I did have some problems. 1)It was impossible to find the screwdriver because the screws are so small, but I went to a watch repair guy and he let me barrow a screwdriver.2)When I opened up the smartphone the only way to take the old lens out was to break a plastic part, but it took me about 10 minutes to finally get the screen out.3)When I finally put everything back together the 0 key did not press. So I had to open the whole thing back up again:mad: and I found out the new keypad I got was defective. Luckily the old keypad I had was not broken, the end key just needed to be adjusted. So that turned out OK.4)When I finally put everything back together for the last time a plastic part started to become loose on the speaker cover. I turned it on and it was fine.:) Then, I noticed a small piece of hair behind the new lens. But, I promised myself I would never open it back up again. Now, I can finally activate it!
