I need to run adobe creative suite 4 smoothly as well as play the latest games.

1) Dell Studio XPS with i7 920, 6gb ram and ati 4850 (cannot be upgraded) £660
2) E8500, 4gb ram and ati 4870 £628
3) Q8200, 2gb ram and ati 4850 £428

They are 3 good deals.

Is the i7920 with lower quality graphics card better than a lower processor with a better graphics card?

Also, what do you think of option 3 as it is very cheap?

i would go with Option 1,however many people may dissagree with it just been a Dell.

thats quite a good price actualy, why did you put on the end of option 1 (cannot be upgraded)

of course it can be upgraded,if you planned on upgrading it at a later date there wouldnt be any problems.

the 4850 is a realy good card anyway and would play anything you threw at it :)

option 2,nah its dual core,Quad core is the future and for your needs will perform better.

option 3 is good, however for the extra option 1 still wins because the i7 is better.

What motherboard + powersupply come with Option 2 & 3?
Appearantly Dell is the better choice at the moment, and it would have more potential to upgrade.

Hi

thanks for your comments...

ive decided i definatly want to go for the dell because of the price. i was told by dell that i couldnt upgrade the graphics card.?? (i suppose i could do it myself in the future??)

anyway... is it worth adding a 6x Blu-Ray burner drive to the DVD+-RW drive it already has to make the price £758

basically an extra £100.

dell probably said you couldnt upgrade it,by meaning that they dont offer any other upgrades in that package if you know what i mean.

but honestly you wont need to upgrade the 4850 for some time,im considering getting a 4850 to replace my 8800GT.

Are you choosing to add the blueray drive from Dell site? dont bother you will pay more.

just get the dell system as you said, then go here

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/139985
and purchase the blueray burner and install it yourself its so easy.

There is really no point right now in buying a Blu-Ray burner unless you own a HDTV and Blu-Ray player and want to make backups of your movies. Even if that is the case I would wait till the price comes down as they are overly expensive.

The Dell is the best choice. That video card is awesome for gaming under 1680x1050. It can always be upgraded down the road and with the i7 you will have the most longevity with it.
