What would you do?

I've got a spare couple of hundred bucks to add to my computer. I was thinking of buying this http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1607587&CatId=4297

But would I see any real performance improvement over what I already have listed below? Having been reading up on the 2 vs 4 vs 6 core, it seems 4 cores would be enough. According to my research, unless you are doing some heavy graphic design, video editing, autocad or the like, you will probably never max out your Core's capabilities. Does that sound right? I do, do video editing on my desktop, but I use a pretty basic editor and that does not use much in the way of resources. I also do a lot of photo editing with Photoshop CS5, but monitoring, even that doesnt use much in the way of resources.

Would it be better to maybe just buy a new SSD? Or would I actually see significant improvement with something like the combo that I linked, and some DDR3 Ram?

Assuming you had my configuration and an extra couple of hundred to spend, what would you buy?

I actually considered buying an acrylic case and adding some bells and whistles, but I dont need that.

Or just max out the memory and call it a day. Cheap upgrade. SSD, maybe, you can always take it out and install on a new build later.

On the WIN 7 replacement with a new MB, why does everyone say that? I have changed Motherboards 3 times, each time a message pops up on WIndows with a code and a phone number, I press the code in using my phone and the automated voice reads me back a new key.

As long as you un-install the Windows off the old computer before installing with a new motherboard you are good in my book. I do not care what Microsoft says.

Yes, but I didnt catch the mention of the retail version. Thats what I have so why its probably so easy to get a new key.

yeah, retail win 7 is made so it can be transfered, oem is made for a single use and then reinstallation and repairs, it is tied to the motherboard it is used with and can't be used with anything else after that without breaking any laws and/or forum rules.

I see no reason why it would 't support the 920, it supports the 910 and 925. I you can I would buy the mobo and see if it used the CPU, which I'd think it would, but if not then buy a new am3 like the 960t

Well, I have decided to go with an AM3+ MB and CPU. But can someone tell me if the following MB will support the CPU I have linked to? Also, will I see a substantial performance increase going from my current setup to this MB/CPU combo with 8 GB DDR3 1600? And one last question. I currently have an Cooler Master Vortex on my AM2, will this fit on an AM3+ CPU? Thanks in Advance.

Why tigerdirect, newegg ways seems to have better prices and I like the layout and filtering and all better. And the am3+ CPUs sort of stink. A Phenom II x4 960t will give you the same or better performance ineverything, on top of being able to unlock 2 extra cores sometimes, And the fx CPUs that are made for gaming actually are known to BSOD in several games no matter what you do. Also msi isn't the best brand, Gigabyte and ASUS are the best, then I think it's ASRock, then MSI. And you want the 900 series chipsets but if you don't have a graphics card you have to get a 800 series but they are perfectly fine and you won't be missing hardly anything.
