I was looking online at newegg.com for an OS, and when I saw the price i nearly crapped my pants. I originally thought that they wouldn't cost a lot at all. For the price of some of them, I could buy another computer. Then I thought that newegg.com could just be having problems with their website and could have messed up the prices. Can anyone direct me in which direction I should go in as far as an OS, I've always favored windows, but for 200 bucks, I may have to switch.

You thought quite wrong, at least for Windows

Well, not quite

No, they are not having problems, the prices are correct.

Well what is your budget, and what are you doing with your computer? XP Pro, last time I checked, was $175, and Home was cheaper. For less than $50 you could go with Linux, but you don't seem to know a whole lot, so I wouldn't go with that, because it requires emulation and lots of not-so-fun stuff. But if you want Windows, you need to open your pocketbook real wide.

Wha... Linux is quite free last time I checked, or the version I'm using on my one linux box... Though, it's quite limited with multimedia...

Well there are different versions, every one I know of is under $50, which would include free.
