What're the benefits of DVI vs. Analog VGA?

Might be a dumb question. Today I got my first monitor that actually has a DVI input (right now it's using the VGA cable with a DVI adapter on the graphics card).

It didn't come with a DVI cable, and I'm wondering if I should invest in one. Are they faster or crisper or something?

they are just a bit better. they are faster and more reliable. i dont think there is much of a difference tho

vga always has 16ms+ response time

dvi allows for down to 2ms, higher fill rate too i think. better signal i think

the response time is crucial for gaming

Are you saying that even if using a 5ms monitor with a VGA cable, I'm stuck at 16ms?

By the way, anyone know an approximate retail price on a DVI cable?

I don't get it. Monitors were rated under 16 ms before DVI existed.

For instance, my old Sony 19" LCD from a few years ago said 12ms and had only analog.
