im looking for a nice gaming mobo with 4 ram sockets
5 P.C.I slots
and well thats pretty muhc it I really dont know what to look
for when shopping for new stuff :( well im off to read FaQ's but you
guys still post

uhh budget....250 MAX for mobo

thnx guys..

what grafics card do you want on it? ( pci-e, AGP? )
what processor socket do you have.
we seriously need more info. ( tough.. a socket 939 mobo with 5 pci slots may be hard to find. ( havnt looked yet))

the best thing you could mention is, what is the total budget for your pc, what do you already have, and what do you absolutely want in it

a asus a8n sli delux has everything u could want socket 939 supports x2s sli but if u want to go further u could get the new version of teh delux that has two true 16x pci slots for sli ect :)

yea i so wanted sli because im getting the 7800gt or gtx card..

in reply to your question "archangel" im getting eather 7800gt or 7800 gtx so pci -express..

im sorry if im not giving enough info but im kinda new to this whole majiger so bear with me..

Btw What do you guys think i should get 1st..because like i said im getting all of this little by little..

i was thinking about mobo, cpu, or vid card...

just so its easier 4 me lol.. I get ..lets say mobo then i ask around/do some searchin then get the right cpu 4 it ..then vid card, or in w.e order i should do it in...

thnx 4 replying....

Seeing as you need all 3 to function (unless you have integrated graphics) the order in which you buy them doesn't matter much. They will each sit and collect dust until you get all of it, so it's not like you can use one or the other while you wait on the other parts. You'll also need a power supply, RAM, etc. unless you've already go that. In which case...what do you have that you're not going to purchase.

In any case, I'd buy motherboard first, then CPU, then video card.

How come you need 5 PCI slots? I find it hard to believe you have 5 PCI expansion cards. And if you do, please tell me what they are lol. If i didn't have wireless internet I wouldn't need any.

"4w4k3" I Am making a new computer (from scratch)..aka i will just customize it..
Really I just want to buy all the stuff before I enlist (june 1 06)
It might just take me that long to gather every last item I need..

1st I was thinking about getting a whole SLi comp but then i realized i dont
have a million dollars 4 a comp LOl

I want something Powerful But not a god...

i know.. i will buy fans, ram, power supply.etc..etc but I just need help in buying
mobo/vid card/cpu/hard drive :) hope i ddnt miss anything :?

thnx all...

Asus makes great boards. The a8n sli-deluxe was mentioned above and I can personally vouch for it. It is my third board by asus, never had a problem with them. As for the cpu, I would lean towards a socket 939 processor. This gives you the option for upgrading in the future as 939 accepts athlon 64 and the FX series. The vid card is pretty cut and dry, if you want the 7800GT or GTX chipset, your only decision is who the manufacturer will be. I speak VERY highly of eVGA. Their customer support is phenominal and their cards are quality made. As for the harddrives, I recommend the 74gb WD Raptor. Those drives spin at 10,000 and are insanely fast. If you can afford it, I recommend getting two of those and running in RAID 0. That is the setup I have and to give you an idea how fast two of them are in RAID 0, after formatting, installing Windows took between 10-11 minutes. Service pack 2 took about 6 minutes to install. Hope this advice helps.

damn thnx man.. but i was leaning toward a 200gb hard drive or somewhere near that...

and about the cpu/mobo..

you have any linx because i was thinking about getting a SLi mobo and that 7800gt or gtx.. and i had no idea which cpu to get with that mobo...

thnx again...

BTW is the AMD athlon 64 3800+ socket 939 any good..
i found it here for 350 bucks....

I mean is it like roughly something that i may want (from what you guys know about my situation.)

thnx...

i would go for the same motherboard as i have, the Albatron K8-SLI.
its what they call a 'budget' SLI board,.. but it outperforms most of them.
and its really great quality :)

further, for a processor, i would go for a AMD 'Venice' 3000+, with the right motherboard, you can overclock it very much.
and i would get 2x 512Mb pc3200 RAM. ( + the video card.)
this would give you a awesome system, for reasonable cash :)

ok kewl so id be able to get that mobo with this cPu?
the AMD athlon 64 3800+ socket 939
and this video card?
bfg 7800gtx
and this much R.a.M?
2 gb
and id have a good game comp??

btw u got a link to a trusted site for this mobo?

Try this;

CPU - AMD Athlon 64 3700+ ClawHammer 800MHz FSB 1MB L2 Cache Socket 754 Processor
(I think its like a 2.4, great OC capability.)

MOBO - ASUS K8N-E DELUXE
MOBO - DFI LANPARTY UT nF3
(Might work with CPU, someone?)

Thats a great setup there... very powerful, not a god, and you dont really need SLI man, just 1 x 7800GTX is more than enough, put your money towards something better, like 2GB ram or so...

yea but i might get that Albarton k8-SLi BUT...

it only has 2x pci slots and 2x (pci express??)
for the SLi set up thing..
NOW..i was wondering because if i want to get sound card and video card i will only have 1 free pci slot?...damn i thought i needed more but man im to tired to think lol
*do i need more?*
is this card werth purchasing with the type of video card i will have?

Dont go with socket 754, its getting outdated really quick. Also the clawhammer core is subpar to the venice, even though its got 1 mb L2 cache. Its also based on the 130 nm process, vs 90 nm. As for OC'ing, the clawhammer also runs much hotter.

yea im pretty sure im going to go with a 939 and an amd athlon 3500+ to 3800+
with that 7800gtx by bfg with a maXtor 73Gb hard drive at 10k a couple of small pretty colored neons and comp fans ....hmmmm psu im still not sure..a dvd-rw/cd-rw and a NZXT case...and im not sure what else i might be missing...oh yea 2gb ram..most likely by kingston...

BTW i saw someplace that there is a psu or mobo with like weird plastic wire-ing?
ok well idk exactly but i saw it somewhere and it looks more *clean* than regular wires with the wires hanging everywhere..

thnx alot guys u guys helped
