What's a good software for capturing Camcorder Video?

I've used Pinnacle Studio Plus, but this crap keeps running errors and I end up having to uninstall it and then reinstall it for it to work. I've spent 16 hours just trying to load one wedding video to it. Apparently I read on their forum that you can't use any other application at the same time as this one and don't use it for more than a half hour or it starts to run errors. What kind of crap is that? Forget about editing videos, the program is too poor to even try anything advanced. Does anyone have any other programs that they use? I'm not looking for a $1000 program, but maybe the $100-$200 range would be nice.
 
even Ulead video studio which i have been trying to use has the similar problems. I dont know whether it is the program or my machine which is not bad with 2.8GHz processor an 512mb DDR and 128mb graphics card. Probably increasing the RAM might help a bit.
