What's a interface?

An interface is something that connects one piece of hardware to another. For example, IDE, SATA, eSATA, USB, FireWire, Mini-USB are all interfaces used for (generally) connecting storage devices/hard drives. Things like PCI-Express are for graphics cards, network cards, sound cards and so on. A CPU Socket is an interface as well.
