Whats all this i hear about visting being bad with games??

Yes it is bad for games.

The blue screen of death come up and error messages are everywhere just trying to play CSS. Also, it only supports 4gb of ram. And due to some lack of optomization the OS uses way to much power for what it does.

CSS works great with vista x64 :D

The main problem seen here with certain games has been sound or lately sound settings. First certain sounds would result in game crashes with HL2 or EP1. That was the initial beta to Vista full Creative drivers plus the OpenAL now seen. Now the game simply stays loacked at the 5.1 surround setting even with the main changed to headphone. Most likely a reinstall will see that corrected. The question remains: Iis it a possible compatibility issue with Vista?

that sounds more like a driver issue with the sound hardware to me.
might want to check the manufacturers site to see if they have a vista driver.

Also, it only supports 4gb of ram
if you want more then 4gb of ram use a 64bit windows vista instead of the 32bit version.
or even 64bit xp. any 32bit os will be limited to 4gb ram.

For most of the time that XP has been out you saw 2gb and 3gb boards until the last year or so where you now have larger capacity boards out. XP Pro 64bit came out in 2005 while some of the 4gb+ models were first being seen. This is where the OSs need to catch up with the faster changes seen in hardwares.

The Vista drivers were available from Creative in mid march and downloaded at that time. But this is more of a glitch in HL2 itself here. The lowest price seen for the 64bit version of XP was $65 OEM when considering that to replace the current 32bit version of Pro installed on one of the sata drives. With Vista now out the increase in drivers available for XP Pro 64bit was seen.
