What's best for my computer, 32 bit or 64 bit OS?

I have a emachine w3503 intel celeron and I plan on putting a GeForce GTX graphics card in and a 500 watt power supply to handle it. My computer says it can have up to a Maximum Memory of 2GB of RAM with 2 sockets(I only have half a GB at the moment). Does that mean I can only put one stick of 1GB RAM in each slot, or 2GB of RAM in each slot? My main question is, my computer has a 64 bit processor but my computer can only have 2 BG of RAM if I am correct. So I have read suff online that said "your computer can process things faster if you put a 32 bit OS with a computer with less than 4GB of RAM." But a 64 bit Windows 7 only requires me to have 2 GB of RAM. Note that I use this computer for gaming and would like to know what bit of OS I should use. Please help :)

You can put a maximum of 2GB in the computer (1GB per slot). It's personal choice if you want 32 or 64, but I'd just do 32 bit.

you can use 2gb of RAM on the PC in total. So if your PC can run memory in dual channel get 2x1gb sticks of RAM if it does not have dual channel capability you can either run one 2gb stick or 2x1gb sticks. which ever you prefer.

Most games are 32 bit so you will not see a performance boost going with 64 bit over 23 bit. The driver support page that I found only listed drivers for 32 bit systems.

Since you won't get any noticeable performance boost going with a 64 bit system and the drivers are all for 32 bit, I would stay with the 32 bit install.

Why are you re installing anyway?

EDIT: Looks like I am a bit late here :P

but thanks for the help voyagerfan99 :)
so your saying even tho I use my computer for gaming. a 32 bit would be better?

thanks for the straight up answer :) and 32 bit it is! and I am not re-installing i had xp...lmao

Gaming with a celeron processor will be holding you back. You won't be doing much as your cpu will be bottlenecking you.

I know this. I'm on a tight budget and just graduated high school so I haven't been able to get a job yet. But thanks for the advice
