What has more graphics power:

Nvidia Geforce 9800 GTX+ or ATI Radeon 4870???

Ignore the price.
Ignore the amount of ram.

9800:
Core clock - 675 mhz
Stream processors - 128
Memory clock - 2200MHz

4870:
Core clock - 750 mhz
Stream processors - 800
Memory clock - 900 MHz

What is core clock, and what do stream processors have to do
with the speed? And what about memory clock?

Basically, trying to figure out how to compare an Nvidia with an
ATI.

4870 of course a 9800GTX+ is just about the same as 4850 just not quite as good a GTX 250 is right there with the 4850. The 4870 is equal to a GTX 260 and come get pretty close to a GTX 275 if you overclock it.

In some games the 9800 GTX+ performs better than the 4870.
Even in the 3Dmark benchmark, it performs better in one test.

See:

I guess it really depends on the game.

I don't trust those benchmarks you can never really determine which is better different games utilizes cretin GPU's better.

This is what I go by http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/...ity/3DMark06-v1.1.0-HDR-SM3.0-Score,1339.html

Overall, the 4870 is the better card. 3dmark isnt really that great of a test to compare gpu's though.

Yea but it's better then comparing GPU to certain games really I don't think there is test they can really compare them.

Now I wait for you to post a link to prove me wrong:D

Lets put it this way. The HD4890 is about on par with the GTX275, and close to the GTX285 in some areas(once overclocked). The HD4890 is a 4870 with a slightly reworked core to allow for higher clockspeeds. The 4870 is roughly similar to a GTX260 core 216 in performance, which is faster than the 9800gtx.
