I pretty positive that the Radeon X700 Pro 256MB GDDR3 PCI-Express is better than the FX 5500.

The X700 is a full generation more advanced than the FX5500 and will take it down without breaking a sweat.

yeah x700, but... 6600GT would stomp that 700 into nothing but fine grain sand.
1. Dont be so sure. The 6600GT is built upon a 8/3 pipe structure, the X700 built on a 8/6 pipe structure -- which explains why it pulls ahead in a lot of benchies ... not that benchies mean much more than a general indicator.
2. Your comparison is an unfair one: the 6600GT is targeted at the X700XT rather than the X700(Pro). Against its class, the nVidia part, the 6600, isnt much competition overall.

The ATI card is PCI-Express instantly boosting external bandwidth of the card so its not really a fair test
Yes but that added bandwidth is not being used making it a somewhat moot (on-paper) advantage.
