Was just wondering how much benifit does a 64bit OS have over a 32bit?

And what would be quicker XP pro Corporate 64bit OR Vista Ultimate 64bit?

I am assuming XP as it does not drain so much resouces. Ohh and price is an issue.

Ohh Just checked the price of coporate and its a bit expensive :P. And found I can get 64 bit on Vista Home lol.

Ohh well question still remains im interested in which would perform faster.

Why are you looking at the corporate version? Just get XP Pro, as Vista uses alot more resources and will have issues with some programs.

I'm actually using XP Pro x64 right now, I get OS's free from MSDNAA so I try them all out when I get bored.

what is that ur school or somethin with microsoft? and is it totally free or do you have to pay for a membership?

I just checked it out. Its pretty much Microsoft giving out free products to Higher Education computing students. Different Colleges/Universities get different things. I just found out Im entitled to "Visio Professional 2003", "Project Professional 2003" and " Visual Studio .NET 2003 professional". Only one I would use is VB.Net and my Uni already gave that too me :P.

Really its just a ploy to make us buy there products in the future. If we use them now and get used to them, we are more likely to buy it for ourselves when we graduate, also if we are asked to build a computer network for a company which many computer people do we are more likely to buy their software for that and for 100 computers they get alot of money.

Wow there is a real lack of punctuation in my post :P

I dont have to pay anything, although the school has to pay a yearly fee. All students in the computer field get access to the programs, so I can get any product Microsoft has made except for it's games and Office.

Back on topic though, I havent used XP Pro x64 for a while until now, and I have to say it's much better. Theres alot more driver support, but the only real advantage over XP Pro is that it can support more then 4GB (3GB) of RAM, and is more future proof. It's not any faster "yet" then the 32 bit verison.
