I agree with spirit on that one. Advanced system care is garbage and AVG is malware in itself. And it was version 9 that was the last best version they had. Went downhill since then.

I haven't used AVG for like 2 years. But from my other experience it seems to be OK.

I used to use and recommend AVG, but the past few years I've been recommending Avast!.

Avast slows my system down unacceptably when transferring files from one hard drive to another, and populating things like Programs and Features in Control Panel.
If I disable shields for any reason, I need to reboot to get them all working again.
AvastSvc.exe takes up to 80% of my CPU cycles.
I happily went back to Avira. It's the only free AV that's never given me grief.

I had the same problem with Avast. I use Bitdefender Free.

I haven't used that before, I'll give it a shot as well. The pop-ups from Avast! are slightly annoying.

I got it yesterday, annoying ads while in-game. *Uninstalls*
I use Avast and don't have any popups. When you installed it, you didn't do a custom install and uncheck all the tools that was installed. Go in control panel and highlight Avast and click on change. Start the process and uncheck tools in the middle section.
