What's going on?!

My computer freezes after about five minutes of playing CS:S. No idea what's going since that never happened to me before. After it kicks me out of the game ,some time later, a message pops up about VPU and how its settings were changed by something. Is there something defective about my video card? its an ATI x800 XL. Any help would be much appreciated.

Do you have drivers installed from ATI.com? Did you just buy the card? What message pops up? Just telling us a message poped up doesn't tell us much, waht does it say?

I updated the drivers. I had to reformat my computer recently but the drivers are all updated. The message that keeps popping up is "VPU Recover has reset your graphics accelerator as it was no longer responding to graphics driver commands."

Could an insufficient power supply to my video card be a problem?
It's likely it is the problem. Can you tell us the wattage and how many amps are on the +12V rail(s)?

my 450 watt supply died and some quack at the store decided to stick in a 350 watt one that's supposed to be better than the 450 one...but i don't even know how many amps or rails the new one has.
