hey all. i want to try and build a pc and was wondering what all is involved. did a quick search didnt see anything so i was wonderingif anyone could give a me a "list" or link to where i can find this out. one of my main questions is: is their anything fairly difficult like soldering or anything like that involved. thanks for the help.

NOPE! no soldering!

well, maybe a little if you want to wire a fancy switch, but there won't need to solder anything onto the motherboard or anything.

but to build your average computer it's basicly all square and round pegs with square and round holes, the thing you need to make sure of is, that all your parts are compatible. example don't get a SCSI drive if you don't have a SCSI motherboard (but most motherboards have IDE, and most hard drives are IDE)

and you should know the difforence between PCI and ISA and AGP, and IDE and SCSI
(PCI is new slots like they have on soundcards and stuff)
(ISA is for old soundcards, and isn't on many motherboards anymore)
(AGP is the slot for recent graphics cards)

it's actually pretty easy, just try getting 2 old computers, taking it apart, and swaping the parts and making one better computer or something, if you want to learn.

It's pretty easy, and theres lots of guides online

case, power supply, motherboard, processor, ram, video and sound card (some motherboards already have them on it), ethernet card/modem (also comes built into some mother boards), hard drive, cd/dvd drive, floppy drive (could get away without one, but would save time when installing things) keyboard/mouse, and monitor. Just make sure everything works with everything else :)

thats what i was gonna do actually im tryin to get my hands on an older pc to see if i can get it work. ive wondered for awhile becuse when i here most talk bout buildin somewhere along the line "soldering" comes up and it made me curious. and the local shop is askin 150 for the build and i thought dam for that il just lean. thanks for the answer.

oh sorry, that was my post about soldering, soldering is good if you want to do something really stange and difforent. but most computers don't involve any soldering.
