Whats more more powerful for the buck?

I am looking into building a computer. I like to game sometimes, and want something that can handle HDMI @ 1920*1080 in game with newer games such as COD:BO (only campaign).
I was looking at newegg and found a reasonably priced single slot CF ready HD5670 1GB. its 99. So if I got these in crossfire it would be 198 + shipping.
Now the HD6850 is 179. And since I want access to my bottom PCI ports, I could only get 1.

So what is more powerful, and thus more bang for the buck a CF HD5670, or single HD6850?

One 6850 will beat 2 5670's easily. Plus not all games will scale well with Crossfire so you will only get the performence of one 5670 which is not that great especially at that res. Your way better off with the 6850.

would the 6850 do well at gaming at that resolution, or should I go for a 6950? Im not really looking to do much with it.
or in a HD5 series, how about a 5770 to save some money? Possible future crossfire?

In general its a much better idea to get one good card than 2 ok ones. It seems cool and all :P but its usually a lot of headaches too. Scaling also becomes an issue as mentioned. Even if the 6850 was a little worse then I'd still choose it over a low end Xfire set-up.

the main question was would a 5770 be feasible as a single card while using a 955?

It would, but a 6850 would be a better. And if you look at the price of a 5770, for a few $ more you can take a GTX460, which is 5850/6850 performance anyway

Yea, and be Nvidia also. Sorry, but not happening. Ive dealt with ATI since P2 days (dads first Windows PC) and I want to continue that. Besides, Its going to be expensive no matter what.

What would be the frame rate (and PSU difference) difference between a 5850 and GTX460 at 1920*1080 resolution at 60Hz refresh rate?

both have as near as makes no difference identical power consumption, and at stock, a 5850 will just top a 460, but the 460 (usually) overclocks much better and will easily outperform the 5850

I'm talking about a totally stock card. I plan on just overclocking the cpu to 4.0GHZ (955 BE) and just just leaving the GPU stock as to not end up screwing it up or voiding the warranty.

Stock, the 5850 would win, but, I would take a 6850 or a 6870 over a 5850 every day of the week for power consumption and scaleability. They perform the say, or the 68xx beats the 5850 deoending on the application, at stock.

whats ftw mean?

for the win, it is an internet way of saying "I think this is awesome" owtte.

before you ask, or words to the effect, it is internet for exactly what it means :P

what about price wise, would the 58** series or the 68** series be cheaper?

and thanks. (someone should really come u with a dictionary for all these short ways of internet speech)
