i notice that heaps of people can see what their frames per second is - even in a full screen game... is there a program to do that?

i found "fraps"... so no worries!
Fraps is a great program, but alot of games also have their own FPS readers built into them, and they also display more detailed information in addition to the FPS.

I am sure they do, look online for a command code for fps. What you do is you bring down the command console by hitting the tilde key, it is the squiggly line one in the top left of the keyboard, right under the esc key. Then you just enter in the code and hit enter. Usually the code is something like "stat fps" or "draw fps."

I found the farcry one for you to give you an idea

Q: How do I display frames per second (fps)?
A: In the console, type "\r_displayinfo 1".

It is different for every game though.
