whats need RIGHT AWAY???

ok so im building a computer right...i have MOST of the money, but still need like a couple hundred or so...i was wondering if its possible to buy SOME of the parts (like processor, RAM, Motherboard, and all the SUPER main stuff) and maybe just continue saving until i can get enough $ money for the other stuff .

my question is what is not NEEDED to operate a computer??...like is the operating system needed right away?...what about a video card? CD drive? etc...

Well, pretty much all things are "needed" in a computer to run it. I mean you don't HAVE to have a mouse and keyboard to run it...but then you can't USE it until you get them lol.

You'll need a motherboard, CPU, RAM, PSU, Video card (unless motherboard has integrated), sound (again, unless integrated or u dont want sound), Harddrive, Operating system, CD-Drive.

You on't NEED a floppy, or a case, or a mouse or keyboard. But they really are important to USING the computer. Also a monitor of course, can run without one...but you can't USE the computer. There are very few things a PC can run without if it has no integrated hardware like video and sound.

wat type of mobo are u planning on getting? cuase if it has integrated video u culd save a good amount of money by not buying a video card. but u wont be able to play any games.

things you absolutely need for the comp to turn on correctly....
motherboard
CPU
PSU
RAM

it is possible to use your comp without a case but not recommended.

these are essential to use it in the most basic way (mess with the BIOS)
keyboard
monitor

These are needed to use your comp better:
Case
Operating System
Mouse
Hard Drive

These are optional and some might be integrated into your motherboard
Graphics card
sound card
CD/DVD Drive
Floppy Drive (I dont even have one on mine)

What makes you say he can't play games. If he gets a decent integragated video card he can still play most games. I'm not saying that most intergrated video cards arn't crap, but you can still get decent intergrated cards.
