why dont you search it in google? I'm sure theres a detailed explanation. In lamest terms its used to speed things up. Mostly used on graphic cards for gaming.

It's actually more common for somebody to overclock their CPU.

No you cant cuz your toaster doesnt have a processor that has a speed based on clock cycles Well, unless your rich and buy one that comes loaded with a fancy computer or something.

Whatever your tweaking has to have some type of clock cycle otherwise it cant be called "over-clocking". Cuz there would be no clock to go over. lol.

Typical thing people overclock is their CPU (processor)..

Say you buy a cpu that is 3.0ghz from the store...if you adjust settings to make that cpu work at anything above 3.0ghz..that is overclocking..

underclocking,..is the same idea but it would be anything under 3.0ghz..

you can overclock other components, such as your ram or your graphics card(s)..but typically people work on getting more juice from the cpu.

you could OC a toaster, well kinda (it wouldn't be overclocking but you can make them run hotter because they have a resistor in them that you could take off the PCB and replace it with a lower value one, thus giving the circuit that goes to the coil less resistance and making the coil hotter.
