I'm in the market for a new monitor for my computer that will beat 1080i resolution from an HDTV. It needs to be the best one for the price. not crap, but not expensive, one that I can rely on for a long time. good reviews.

Just to let you know, it's not just about resolution.

You can have a 42" 1080p TV, and you may think it's great since it has a high res, but there are still the same amount of pixels on that 42" that are on a 22" 1080p. So by getting a smaller monitor/tv, with say 720p, it would look just as good or better then a large 1080p TV.

And why do you want 1080i and not 1080p?

ugh that's so dumb, it CAN go into 1080i, but its reccomended res is lower, however slightly. so, technically, you would have to take it OUT of native resolution in order to have true 1080i...

just a question, but why is 1080i important anyways? i have my monitor set to 1280/1024 and it looks great. my X800GTO powers right through it, overclocked to the speeds of a 7600...(some might call that a super-clock? eh? lovin it...) so, tell me, is the extra 100 dollars really worth the 100 extra width pixels?

EDIT: also, its an 8ms monitor, so gaming might lagg on super fast-paced games...

1080p, 1080i, what ever. Which is higher? I want a monitor better than that in native resolution. Don't ask why, I just do.

That's for the 50 inch. j/k. games. its for games. That's also why I'm looking into an R600, but that's beside the point.
