Whats the computer game with best graphics?

actually, my video card had trouble with neverwinter nights 2. i didnt like the graphics though, im pretty sure its because it was trying to process the same amount of info when i was zoomed out, increasing the amount by a lot...

id say oblivion, but there are also other good games out there... quake 4 has great graphics and so does f.e.a.r.
i mean you can increase the graphics a lot just by getting a better card that does AA at 8x or even 16x...
i mean WoW doesnt have half-bad graphics... its just extremely easy on a system... i know guys that lag on CS 1.6 on the lowest settings. how pathetic is he huh? lol

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas currently has the best graphics. It uses unreal engine 3.0 (the same engine that UT2007 is going to use)

FarCry

If you play farcry on a nice size screen (20 or bigger) and use the hdr patch. Now that is what looks nice.

I'd have the say FEAR for effects though.

And Crysis will BLOW anything out of the water, same as Project Offset.

Hope that helps

Werd. FarCry is great, FEAR has great effects (slowmo is enough to entertain me for hours), and as for crysis, well, if you haven't seen the demos, go do so now.

How does farcry have the best graphics? Sure, it has good textures, but the geometries are pretty crude, that is why it "looks" good, and plays on just about anything.

It wouldnt play on my computer without getting my 9600 so no i dont think it will run on anything:D

Have you ever played FarCry on a resolution of 1680 x 1050 or above with maxed settings (including aa and af) and with the hdr patch? And that game does not play on just about anything with settings maxxed, no where near it.

Bob

certainly one of the heavyest games to run is Tomb Raider: Legends, with the next gen contend enabled.. Its way heavyer than Oblivion for sure,.. since i can run oblivion maxed out, but cant do that on tomb raider.

Yes I have. When did I say it will play on max settings on just about anything?

This whole thread is talking about the nicest looking pc game. Hence all games should be on maxed setting with aa and af, and played at a decent resolution.

So your telling me that you've played FarCry at a resolution of 1680 x 1050 or above with totally maxed settings (aa, af, hdr) and you're saying it's not one of the nicest games your ever seen?

Bob

And the game being able to play on a variety of systems is most likely due to good coding, just like the hl2 series.

You mean graphics engine correct?
Sure, it may "look" nice, but it isn't even close to the "nicest" looking game. Have you ever played oblivion maxed out at 1600x1200 with AA/AF @ 8x/16x? It makes farcry look like an old n64 game.

The reason farcry can run decently on low speced computers is because the geometries are very basic. If you ever look at the vehicles for instance, everything can be achieved by simple tubes and circles. All they do is just use hatch to make everything look better. They mainly focus on particles to make everything look better.

Oblivion and UT2007 don't rely on particles to make the game look good, they use much more sophisticated geometries that require much more rendering then simpler games like half-life and farcry, etc.
