Whats the deal?

I bought Sim City 4 tonight and I installed it fine without a hitch, registered and everything, I go to play the game itself, yet low and behold I see a blank black screen, I get the mouse pointer graphic but thats it. I dont understand it, I play WoW which is directX 9 and Sim City is DX8. I reinstalled the game, in hopes of getting the problem fix, and the only thing the manual said about video issues was make sure that my video card had the latest drivers, which I'm pretty sure I have because I can play WoW no problem...Whats up?
 
This is really bugging me, I tried playing it again, and still nothing, but I did notice that whenever I window out I can see the video playing..hmmm...:confused: :confused:
 
right click the shortcut and select properties and run it in windows 98 compatibility that should work i had to do that with several of my games
 
I had a similar issue with this game. An update worked... Also just because you are running WOW with no issues, it does not mean you have the latest drivers.

What was the update version you installed? Also update your graphic drivers if needed. What card and driver version is installed?
 
Okay a little update, I fixed the problem, I had to add "-CustomResolution:enabled -r800x600" to the end of my target dialogue box under my desktop shortcut. That fixed the video issue.
