whats the difference between laptop and notebook?

yes, i was serious, ive just searched on google and ive found the answer.
and im not tryin to to be dumb,
why did u write those questions. if you know the answer, then answer.

to awnser the question unlike there other two morons, yes a laptop is the same as a notebook.

no is not the same, there is a lil bit difference:

Laptop: A portable computer small enough to use on one's lap.

Notebook: A light, portable computer that is generally thinner than a laptop.

Even according to Webopedia, laptop computers are more frequently called notebook computers, though technically laptops are somewhat smaller in size than notebooks.

they write the questions because they want to feel cool online and act like they know everything.

and to your post above, they mostly use the same components. That is why they are commonly confused/mixed up/

fatdragon and lb562high never laugh to people who doesn't know something. never laugh to peoples knowledge. maybe they know 1000 things that you don't know and maybe you to know 100 thing that they don't know.

well put.

but the person that calls other people a moron obviously deserves to be praised...i actually thought you were kidding..sarcasm is very hard to see online

i thought notebooks used to be called laptops untill someone found out that using one on your lap might cause health problems in the genital area

Very true, same thing why really tight pants/jeans on guy does the same thing. Raises the temperature too much and cooks the little guys... :(

i bet some company has created *laptop genital protector pads* if not there is an opening in the market there!

Back on topic, good question and i was wondering the same thing. i always think "notebook" sounds more professional

I work for Acer and their definition of a laptop is a computer that is suitable for use on a lap; most modern computers are not suitable for this type of use as most systems require too much ventilation/cooling. Therefore a notebook is merely a portable computer that should only be used on a hard flat surface.

So the question is not a dumb question as a laptop and a notebook are two different things.
