what's the difference between switch and router?

A router is used to "route" an internet source (Broadband) to multiple computers. While a Switch is used to connect computers in a network (which a router also does).

Well a switch is more smarter than a router, a router takes a signal from a computer and retransmits it on all ports, while a switch takes a signal, and routes it to the specific computer.

thats sounds like a hub.

i just think of them as the same to keep it simple, they both do the same basic thing which is share the internet connection or create a basic network, even though they are different
