ok...
I was on newegg, looking for a new processor and 2 gigs of ram (pretty sure the ram will be an easy pick)
anyway.. i found these

AMD Phenom 9600 Agena 2.3GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache 2MB L3 Cache Socket AM2+ 95W Quad-Core Processor - Retail

AMD Phenom 9650 2.3GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache 2MB L3 Cache Socket AM2+ 95W Quad-Core Processor - OEM
AMD Phenom 9650 2.3GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache 2MB L3 Cache Socket AM2+ 95W Quad-Core Processor - Retail
AMD Phenom 9600B 2.3GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache 2MB L3 Cache Socket AM2+ 95W Quad-Core Processor - OEM
Now, the prices go from $170 to $210, but i see no difference in power consumption, or any other specs.
which should i pick? the OEM/Retail is no issue, i have a cooler..

EDIT: whats with the !@*%#(&^ threads not being posted???? i tried posting a thread last night and couldn't. other members couldn't. and this one was the THIRD thread (third try on the same copied text) that i tried posting. shit CF, get with it.

nevermind. found a deal on the 9850BE... i wanted a 95w but who cares anyway. world's going to burn in hell a fueled by mismanaged E85 and coal anyway...

I really dont know what the difference is in the processors. I guess They change the prices depending on the name =P

But yea... !@#$ Im getting the same freakin threads not being posting thing. It takes forever to post, or it takes me to An Internet Explorer problem screen

the differences is the stepping, wether or not is has a heatsink/fan, and/or unlock multiplier.

1. 9600 retail - has the b2 stepping, heatsink/fan, lock multiplier
2. 9650 oem - has the b3 stepping, no heatsink/fan, lock multiplier
3. 9650 retail - has the b3 stepping, heatsink/fan, lock multiplier
4. 9600B oem - has the b2 stepping, no heatsink/fan, unlock multiplier

the b2 stepping had the trans lookaside buffer error(TLB error), which would cause data corruption and/or system instablity in very rare cases. it was later patched in the BOIS, but the patch hurted performance.the performance hit averaged about 10%, but in some cases it was a lot more(WinRAR was over 70% slower). the b3 stepping doesn't have this error. the unlock multiplier is to help with overclocking.
