Whats the difference between water cooling system and water cooling block

thinking of getting water cooling. Whats the difference between the 2. What is a water block???

I take it a system is everything u need for water cooling
 
Water block is the hardware attached to the hardware u want to cool(CPU,NB,GPU) and is a part of a WC system, WC system consist of Block(CPU,NB,GPU,RAM,)/Pump/Radiator/Reservoir(optional)/Tubing. WC blocks are made of copper or aluminum, copper are widely use coz it absorbes heat better than aluminum.
