hey, so i saw some lady throwing away a computer which looked almost brand new (its a compaq) so i picked it up figuring i could salvage it. mobo is fried, got a pc2700 256mb out of it, a socket A sempron, and a CD-Rw/dvd-rom drive, i almost got the hard drive but the lady threw it down the sewer (i watched her do it, i almost cried)

anyways... i would like to know the speed of this sempron..is there any way to tell without looking at it? i dont have a socket A mobo to throw it into.

thanks for lookin

any markings on the top of the chip? writing or anything, otherwise i cant see any other way to find out other than popping it in a system

If you look at the top of the CPU, it will say the model number, and possible the speed.

it has a badge that says:

AMD SEMPRON

sda30000dut4d e102d42l41682
adyha 0448gmc

it also says 28103 in the marked corner, ant a T in the adjacent corner

doesnt say anything bout speed or model such at 2800+ or anything.

best thing from google is....

Descrizione del prodotto :. CPU AMD 3000+ Sempron 256K Cache Bus333 Tray 0.13. Codice prodotto. CF00000954. Part number :. SDA30000DUT4D ...

thats when googling sda30000dut4d

be aware that the quote is from the google search page as the actual page refused to load.....

It's probably a 3000, I got a compaq last year, when they were basically clearencing all the Socket A computers for $300 :D, good for a first computer, with a $50 graphics card and 768MB ram, it can run games pretty good.

Instead of doing all that, why didn't you just run CPU-Z? O.o it would've been a lot less stressful!

Heres the link if you don't have it:
http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php
just click on "Download Latest Version" on the right side of the page

he cant try it in a computer, it's just the CPU...

if he could put it in a computer, im sure he would've....

Oh, sry i missread, i though he picked up the entire computer, but the specs he described were the exact same that mine came with and mine looks semi-new so i'm betting its Sempron 3000

That is a really bad price....I could have built you a brand new computer for that same price.

yeah, i picked up the whole computer but u missed the part about the mobo being fried, and i dont have a socket A mobo layin around, and yeah it probably is a 3000+ or sumthin, im gunna buy a mobo and make a nice little media center with it.

with that entier computer would there be a moniter?
anyway it was before i really knew anything (I will never buy compaq again >>)
