What's the scoop

How many GB of Ram can Windows XP and the MoBo use. I am going to buy the AM X2 Dual Core 4800+ system and want 4GB of Ram. It comes with 2GB, but I want to upgrade it to 4GB.

I was told that it cannot use the 4GB of Ram. it can only use 3 at best. This system is an economy Multimeda system with 128MB (PCI-E) graphics share w/system Ram Video card. So I thought I'd get an extra 2GB since the built in video card shares memory with Ram.

I do not use my computer for games so I don't need a super fast machine, but I do use it for high end photography pictures.

Should I later install my own Video card and not use the onboard video card to speed things up if it is not fast enough for me.

Yes xp can only use 3GB. I have 4GB and my xp only shows 3.

2 GB for now is good enough. as for photoshop better video is ideal but if your talking about editing photos every now and then, you don't need to upgrade anything since you don't game.

Partly, if anything true. It all depends on how many bits ur OS is. It is most likely either going to be 32, or 64 bit. 64 bit can see upto....alot more than 4gb ram. 32 bit can only see upto 3.5gb max, if ur lucky. The operating systems come in either flavor so check what u want. integrated graphics r ok for now, but u might wanna upgrade for later!
