Whats with my alternating 3DMark06 scores?

I recently had windows vista HP, but after having countless problems i switch back to XP. But when i was on eVista i ran a 3DMark06 benchmark and got a score of 11366. But now im on Xp and im getting lower scores around 10112. I had 500MB used Idleing in vista and 217 in XP. So why would i get a lower score in XP then i did in vista?
 
what processor do you have currently?

If it's 64 bit or dual core then vista can take advantage of the processor's full power
