I bought a 2x 1Gb kit of DDR2 800 for $23.99 in January. Now they're like $40-50...

They're saving stock for a year from now, so they can double the price. lol

It's not just DDR2 RAM. I built my PC around 3 months ago - and bought 3x2 G-Skill 1600 DDR 3 for 85 bucks at newegg ( on sale with no rebate ).

Today's price for the exact same RAM - 144 bucks !!!!!
