Whats wrong here?

My girlfriend has the exact same laptop as her roomate, who lives with her (obviously). They have a wireless network set up by AT&T. Her laptop won't connect unless it's plugged up to the modem/router via ethernet cord. Her roomates laptop works fine without having to plug up.

At my house, (another wireless network) set up by MediaCom, her internet works fine with no chord. At her parents house (a wireless network) her laptop works fine. I automatically assumed it was her router until she told me her roomates was working fine.

Whats going on here?

Is her router at her place set up securely? If so, she may have put the key in wrong. Best thing to try would be to delete the network profile from her laptop and then re-connect, being sure that the wireless key is entered correctly.

Yeah, it's password protected. She connects to the network, but just doesn't get internet access. So therefore, the password has to be right if she's connecting to the network. She also called an HP helpdesk and they told her to delete the profiles and connect again. She did that, but still- nothing.

Well it is still possible to connect to the network even if the password is wrong. And if the password is wrong you can't access the internet. I'd say give it another try.

Tried it again, she definitely typed it in right this time. Still the same problem.

Remove security from the router to see if she can connect to it without a password. If she can, then its a security issue.
